Construct: New Universal Access Infrastructure at Vaucluse Public School
Client: Soil Conservation Services [School Program]
Status: Completed
Contract: MW21
Consultants: Utech
Completion: October 2017
New and improved universal access facilities at the school were built by Royal Contractors despite site challenges which included the need to relocate the existing ball courts to accommodate the extended building footprint and integration of the new build with the school’s historic façade.
The scope of works included electrical upgrades, a waterproof concrete lift shaft to house a new commercial passenger lift, together with AS1428.1 accessibility upgrades, site-wide maintenance works and the creation of a suspended glazed curtain wall linkway between buildings.
Project Challenges include:
- Live Site
- Limited access to premises and site surrounds for deliveries
- Existing stormwater/sewer diversion whilst retaining school usage
- Below ground single pour waterproof concrete lift pit
